Congress doors still open for tie-ups: Srinivas
HYDERABAD:
The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has made light of the proposed alliance between the Telugu Desam, Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Left parties claiming the tie-up would not have any impact on the prospects of Congress in the next elections.
APCC president D. Srinivas, however, said the TRS had not taken a final decision on alliances and the “Congress has kept its doors open for tie-ups”. He did not attach much importance to the meeting between TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao claiming there was nothing wrong in the meeting. “After all, they are old friends and Cabinet colleagues. Why should be we bother about the meeting?” he said.
Speaking to reporters who met him on Thursday, Mr. Srinivas recalled that the Left parties had announced their decision to sail with the TDP, but the TRS had set January 21 deadline for announcing its stand on the alliance.
